Ashley's Baptism

Ashley got baptized on Oct. 25, 2009. She was so excited to be baptized. She said, "I've been waiting for this day since I was 4." We were so proud of our sweet little girl.

She was the only one baptized in our stake so she had the whole day to herself. We had many people come to see her baptized. She was so happy to have them all there to support her. Pres. Tom Bagley spoke about baptism, Mom spoke about the Holy Ghost, Daddy baptized her and Grandpa confirmed her. Grammy and Grandma gave the prayers and Bishop Anderson also spoke. Everything went smoothly and it was a wonderful day.

In Pres. Bagley's talk he told the story of a little girl who was recently baptized, whose mother went running to her after she heard her scream. She was in the bathroom staring at her reflection when her mother asked her what was wrong. She began to cry and said that she had "lost her sparkle." Her mother asked her to explain and the little girl said that after she was baptized she had a sparkle and then she admitted to her mother that she had been mean to her sister and when she came into the bathroom, she noticed that her sparkle was gone. Her mother told her how she could get her sparkle back and Pres. Bagley challenged Ashley to always keep her sparkle.

On the way home from the baptism, Ashley and Ty wanted to ride with Grandpa & Grandma. Grandpa told me that on the way home, Ashley was teasing Ty, and Ty turned to her and said, "You've lost your sparkle, Ashley." I had to laugh. For one thing, I didn't think Ty was listening at all, and for another, he had found the perfect way to guilt his sister into behaving.
