She's 1!

It's hard to believe that we now have a little one-year-old! Sarah turned one on December 17th. It's amazing to see how much she has grown and changed over the year. She was always such a sweet natured little baby, but now she is definitely finding her voice. I think it is partly due to her newfound independence that comes with crawling, feeding herself, etc. And partly due to being the third child, with two other siblings competing for mom and dad's attention. And boy is her voice loud!

Sarah has always been the noisiest of our babies. When she was just tiny we called her our little piggy because she would make the funniest grunting sounds when I fed her. I even got the cutest piggy pajamas for her because they reminded me of our little piggy. Then as she got a little older and she started to experiment with making noises, one of her favorites was a little growl that sounded like a bear. Our little piggy turned into a little bear, so we dressed her as a bear for Halloween. Now she has a very distinct new sound. It is hard to describe, but it is very loud. One day as Brent and I were trying to figure out how best to describe this new sound, I realized she sounds just like some very angry geese we used to tease at the zoo. Her noise sounds just like the angry "honk" of a goose. It is hilarious! Now we call her "goose." This used to be my nickname for Ashley, because I used to call her "silly goose," which later was shortened to just "goose." But now Sarah has very much earned the nickname. We laugh that she has always been related to some kind of animal from our little pig, to our bear, and to our goose. Sarah is certainly one of a kind. We sure love our sweet little girl and can't believe how quickly she is growing up!
