The "Happiest" Place on Earth!

It sure has been a long time since I wrote on here. I would've sworn it was only a couple weeks ago, but now I see it's been over a month! Sorry!

Anyway, we continued our newly founded tradition of going to Disneyland for our kids' birthdays and made the trip again for Ashley's 6th birthday. We left on Friday, Oct. 5th and stayed with Glenn & Kirsten.
The birthday girl--our little rockstar.

Scott & Megan surprised us and were there too, so we were all able to spend the next day, Ashley's birthday, together. We had a great time going to the Huntington Pier and going to the mall. Then we took everyone to dinner at El Torito to celebrate. It was a great day.

This is Ty's "being brave" face. He was so proud that he was brave enough to stand next to the railing.

The following day we went to Disneyland. But something was wrong--very wrong. Brent finally discovered it. He had been suspecting that things seemed a little too happy, even for Disneyland. He stopped a security guard and said, "Is today a little 'happier' than usual?" The guard replied, "Do you mean is it Gay Days?" Brent nodded and the guard confirmed it--it was Gay Days. You should have seen Brent's face everytime a couple with red shirts passed by. I kept asking, "What is wrong?" And then immediately remembered what was causing him such distress. I have to say it was a very strange thing to experience at one of our favorite family places. And not something you necessarily want to have to explain to your curious 6 year old. But, we had a great time. It was awesome because Glenn & Kirsten offered to take Sarah for the day for us, so we were able to all ride together. We had a lot of fun!

The next day, Monday, the 8th, was the last in the series of four Gay Days, so we opted out of going to Disneyland that day and went down to San Diego for a little while and then came back and went to dinner with Glenn & Kirsten. The next day all five of us went to California Adventure for a few hours. Sarah was loving it and taking it all in. We tried the Tower of Terror for the first time and it was great. Ty even went on it once and Ashley went twice so that Mom could go too.

Wednesday was our last day. We packed up our car and decided to spend a few last hours at Disneyland that afternoon before heading home for Salt Lake. We actually got to go on the Finding Nemo ride with only a 50 minute wait! Ty and Ashley each chose their favorite ride to do one last time. Ashley chose Space Mountain and Ty chose the Haunted Mansion (because it was decorated like "The Nightmare before Christmas" for Halloween. He loves Jack Skellington.) Then we rode Pirates of the Caribbean twice and then the park closed for the night. We drove through the night (well, Brent drove through the night, the rest of us slept) and got home in time for the kids to go to school the next day. What a trip! We sure love Disneyland and can't wait to go again! Yea for annual passes!!
